The town of Westlake owns and operates Westlake Academy, a prestigious and innovative charter school that offers all three programs of the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum - Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and the Diploma Programme. Westlake Academy continues to maintain the rating of Exemplary awarded by the Texas Education Agency. Additionally, Westlake Academy has been nationally ranked #58 by US News & World Report, Newsweek, and the Washington Post.
Recent Admission/Residency Policy Changes
On June 1, 2015, the Westlake Town Council/Board of Trustees found it necessary to make a few changes to the academy admissions policies due the growth of the Westlake community. There are different effective dates within the amendments, depending on your classification of residency, so please note accordingly and read through the Admissions Policy.
Carroll ISD is a K-12 public school system located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The 21-square-mile district consists of 11 schools serving more than 8,000 students and 1,000 employees. The district is one of the largest in the state of Texas to earn the top rating of "Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency. In addition, the district and all campuses met the federal guidelines for the No Child Left Behind Act.
Five of CISD's schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon Schools include Rockenbaugh Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Carroll Elementary, Carroll Middle School and Carroll Senior High School.
Approximately 98 percent of Carroll's seniors go on to attend a college or university after graduation. More than 90 percent of Carroll students take a college entrance exam, with composite scores on the SAT and ACT that exceed state and national averages. Carroll offers a full array of Advanced Placement and Honors courses, a challenging curriculum for gifted and talented students and special programs for students with special needs.
